Bridge sniper fires at police and shoots self

Michniak, a Pittsburgh resident and father of a five month old, opened fire on police from the bridge and then shot himself in a dramatic event broadcast on television. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for brain surgery. his condition was described as unknown. His mother said he had recent psychiatric concerns after Air Force basic training and was under medical care.

Laird reports cost hikes on nine weapons projects
