Soap Box Derby Winners Prize Awards At Jefferson City
John David Eidson won the Jefferson City Soap Box Derby over 32 entrants earning a gold trophy and an all expenses paid trip to the All American Derby in Akron Ohio. Prizes were provided by Chevrolet Motor Company News and Tribune and the Lions Club. Second place Herbert Schriefer received a complete sports outfit. Mayors Lutke and Studer won special awards for braking. The event also honored top finishers with radios, cameras, and other prizes while Lions Club members presented autographed baseballs to nine more racers who advanced to heats.

A vehicle driven by EB b aks struck the rear of RB Renfrew in the 700 block of Jefferson Street yesterday afternoon. Police estimate Wilks’ damage at 150 dollars and Renfrew’s at 25 dollars. Wilks said he was looking down tuning a radio and did not see the stop. No charges were filed.

Warrenton Man Dies When Car Overturns
Warrenton resident George E. Corder, 26, died when his car overturned on a Lincoln County road. Passengers Samuel Ramanick, 26, and Ames Jeffries, 24, of Warrenton were injured. State patrol attributed the crash to a curve failure near Hawk Point.

Two Trucks Stolen Over Weekend Recovered Later
