GM foresees U.S. auto output above seven million. steel quotas may tighten this summer. copper remains tight amid stockpile pressure. construction and consumer spending rise as unemployment trends down.
Morristown Tennessee saw two dynamite blasts before a textile strike. Milk supplies were cut in Washington and Pittsburgh as AFL dairy workers idle. 700 AFL laborers at Oak Ridge won a 13 cent hourly raise to 1.08 after a weeklong strike that halted a giant construction program. National Guard troops were withdrawn. milk deliveries maintained to vital sites under special tracing.
George Rice Jr and his daughter Karlee were weekend guests of the Rice family at 1504 East Miller Street in Kansas City. The visit included Ro bert Duss and his wife in Fayette, plus Hyatt and Lee Duss families. They celebrated the birth of their first grandson born June 6.
Two men appeared before Judge A J Schwaber in police court this morning. One pled guilty to intoxication. The other pled not guilty to wandering without a good account of self. Don Ray Williams 38 Saint Louis pled not guilty claiming three weeks in the city seeking work and sleeping in his car when arrested. Trial set for Friday. Williams jailed on 250 bond. Mervyn Woodson 56 New Orleans ordered to leave town after his plea. Mrs Frank Schumacher and another pleaded guilty to drunken conduct. Woodson preferred to depart the town. Mrs Schumacher’s husband and son to depart for Halt Ark. Walter Schroeder 223 West Elm Street noted for medical treatment. Mr and Mrs Dean Shelton 1208 Adams Street named their newborn son Wilson Dean Jr born Kumphreys hospital in Tus n cumbia Tuesday. A dozen births reported throughout the day. Federation Elects Head Springfield June 7 AP Richard W Schmidt St Louis veteran affairs regional officer re-elected president of state federation of the National Federation of Federal Employes at closing session of the convention.
Pretoria South Africa June 12 AP Field Marshal Jen Christian Smuts was reported by doctors today to be very ill after a collapse on Saturday. He first became ill May 26 during a national celebration of his 80th birthday. Doctors say it will be a long time before he can participate in politics again and that he may never be able to. The former prime minister was described as immensely interested in parliament and insisted he be kept informed of developments. A back ailment initially put him in bed and he later developed pneumonia.
A British newsman requested asylum in East Germany asserting the Western press distorted and slandered last month’s peaceful Germany rally. He complained East Germany would no longer serve as a tool of American imperialism or a mouthpiece for warmongers.
Deaths notice for Linga Mane Schulz infant daughter of Dr. C. W. Schulz and wife. Born April 19, she died yesterday at the parental home 415 Woodlawn. Survived by parents two sisters Carol Ron Diane Rose and two brothers Daniel Robert and Carl Jr. Also surviving are paternal grandfather Dr. Ened Schulz of Jefferson City and maternal grandmother Shockly of Atchison Kansas.
Dr William A Hume, 80, longtime member of the Central Missouri family, died at his Columbia home. Survivors include nephew Frank Hume and niece Bessie Hume of Jefferson City, wife Sally Swansey Hume, and nephew Edwin of Glendale, California.
Mrs Pauline Wilmesherr died yesterday at the home of her daughter in Washington. Her body will be taken to Washington for services Wednesday afternoon, with burial in Evangelical cemetery. She is survived by another daughter Mrs Adolph Meyer of Hamlin Street and two sons Emil of Washington and Andrew of New Haven. The note mentions annual insect damage in U S forests estimated at 2 509 000 dollars by the Department of Agriculture.
In Cleveland on June 12 AP report Mrs Angela Miceli 46 sued for divorce from Leone Miceli 63 her stepfather by marriage The judge Frank J Rick noted the need for more than one Solomon The court said no marriage nearer than second cousins applies even when related by marriage and that if the marriage was not legal then no divorce or separation could be granted The couple fights over funds in question.

State officials friends and former colleagues paid tribute today to Supreme Court Judge Albert M. Clark. He died at his home from a heart attack at the age of. The Rev. Benjamin Schmidtke eulogized him as one of Missouri's leading citizens noting his cool confident manner. Gov Forrest Smith joined the service along with other officials and out of town visitors. The funeral proceeded to Lawson for graveside rites with the Masonic lodge and Missouri Highway Patrol escorting the cortege.
Admiral Sir Henry Harwood, 62, a noted British naval hero, died last week, the admiralty announced. He commanded the forces that destroyed the Graf Spee in the River Plate estuary in December 1939. The location and cause of death were not disclosed.
