Last Shelton clan member slain. police seek killer
Fairfield Illinois residents in the Shelton family endure a fresh ambush murder. Roy Shelton, 59, was shot while cultivating a farm field near Fairfield. He was the third of five Shelton brothers to be killed in ambushes over three years. A sniper fled after firing from bushes as Roy’s aid arrived. Surviving brothers are guarded by state troopers.
