Mrs Donald Doeren, 31, after illness and tiring of cleaning up after her three sons, created a child friendly shoeshine kit to polish shoes without mess. The kit is now on the market and she is active in promoting it.
James Marlow recalls Charles Henry Campbell known as Charlie Campbell who died at 52. Campbell led Britain's information office in Washington since 1942, shaping favorable news coverage and building goodwill with American reporters. Rosie and Clyde, real setters in Macon, guarded their home. A shotgun and hunting coat were stolen from the cab of Frank P. Briggs’s truck while he left it for about ten minutes. the dogs remained undisturbed in the truck bed. Briggs is a Missouri Conservation Commission member and Macon Chronicle-Herald publisher.

In New York four men were arrested on charges of transporting stolen Gulf Oil top secret oil exploration maps across state lines. The maps valued at millions were stolen from Gulf Oil’s Pittsburgh offices by a employee facing gambling debts to New York racketeers. The group included Odie Richard Seagraves and Emanuel Lester, with others named John Lemvia and Edward Lieberman. Bail set and hearings planned as investigators recover most of the maps.
