Three Missouri Banks Close Today Amid Board Action

Three Missouri banks including the Bank of Osage were closed by their board of directors in Lin the Ponds of the Bias partment. Also shut were Union Savings Bank at Monica City in Monroe County and State Bank of Collins at Col- l. No reasons were given for the closures.

Suspects held in Maryville teacher slaying case

Two men, Eddie Johnson of Des Moines and John Frouge of St Joseph, are jailed in Mount Ayr pending alibi checks for the Velma Colter murder near Maryville Missouri. Authorities also question farm laborers nearby as they chase footprints and a missing weapon in a brutal schoolhouse killing. A suspect in Sedalia, Raymond Gates of 40, was detained near a greenhouse after claiming danger and noting prior Missouri prison time. He denied Maryville ties and appeared unsettled, with worn shoes and swollen feet from travel.
