John Ben Harrison, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben J. Harrison of Springfield Missouri, died after an illness marked by multiple blood transfusions over the past year. His father was a well known merchant and former secretary of the State Athletic Commission.
Washington December 14 AP commissions appear taboo and have been replaced by various councils administrations boards and committees numbering more than the old panels. The shift signals broader executive oversight and a move toward formalized governing bodies within federal activity. Names of agencies and outcomes remain unspecified in the fragment.
The executive council led by the president forms a national emergency council with Frank Walker as chairman. The administration includes the National Recovery Administration and numerous boards and agencies such as the Farm Credit Administration Civil Works Administration and the Tennessee Valley Authority along with several committees and commissions.

James Houchin dies suddenly in Illinois after a long illness. He is survived by a daughter Mrs J W Hobbs, father J B Houchin, brothers Beth and William Houchin of St Louis, sisters Mrs D M Oberman and Mrs Rose Coppage of Jefferson City. Funeral plans await word from son-in-law J W Hobbs.
In Montreal's Chinatown a new tong war outbreak sent six Chinese injured, 19 hospitalizations, and 16 jailed. The clashes center on a gambling house racket, tied to rival tong factions.
