Ellenton South Carolina December article reports two Red Book staffers Ike Vern and Booton Herndon assaulted by local men after attempting to photograph congregants leaving a Baptist church. Police say inquiry continues into the clash tied to plans for a 260 million dollar H bomb plant, with residents angered by home removals. The writers returned to New York claiming they were attacked while near the church and photographed in front of the building.
Mrs. Marlin Gipfert hosted a 50th wedding reception at the Missouri hotel for friends and relatives. The Gipferts married December 12, 1900, by Rev. Theodore Mueller. Residents reported a brilliant sky flash in St Louis last night causing temporary alarm as a fireball meteor allegedly lit the countryside. Police and airport towers noted sightings from Poplar Bluff to Fat River, while the St Louis Amateur Astronomical Society described the event as a large meteor entering Earth’s atmosphere. a meteor shower had been anticipated but was canceled.
