TUSCUMBIA Specially Injuries: suffered in a bulldozer accident near West Union, Iowa, proved fatal for David Austin Helton, 28, a former resident. Plane Vanishes in Windstorm Over British Columbia
A Trans-Canada Air Lines four engined North Star with 62 aboard vanished during a violent windstorm over south central British Columbia. Officials said there was absolutely no hope the plane remained airborne. Ground searches from Chilliwack and aerial patrols by four RCAF planes failed to locate any trace of the missing aircraft. The flight left Vancouver for eastern Canada last night at 6 p.m. PST and was due in Montreal with stops at Calgary Regina Winnipeg and Toronto.

Six Vehicle Accidents Reported Amid Slick City Streets
Jefferson City police logged six minor crashes today blamed on slick and icy streets. At 7:33 a.m. Alfred Beck, 17, pulled over on Industrial drive west of Brooks to discharge a passenger and was rear ended by Carl Russell, 29, then Russell was struck by Le Roy Baker, 18, with no address listed. Russell’s trunk lid and rear panel damaged while Beck’s car had minor fender damage. A truck owned by Robert Bosch struck Beck’s parked car causing minor damage. At 8:90 a.m. John Gnagi, 22, backed from a curb and hit Albert Hall’s parked car causing fender damage. At 8:13 a.m. Charles Meyer, 628 Clark Ave., reported a hit and run damaging trunk lid and taillight. Lester Schulte, 200 Polk St., said his car slid into J. D. McDonald’s parked car. no injuries reported.
