In Columbia Mo on December 2 AP reports Governor Guy B Park will speak at the University of Missouri football banquet. Other speakers include Coach Don Faurot university president Frederick A Middlebush and Alumni Association president Richmond C Coburn and Men’s Club president Oak Hunter. Varsity players and freshmen numeral winners will attend. Next year’s varsity captain election and motion pictures of the Missouri Kansas Thanksgiving game are on the program.

Cassville Missouri December 22 AP Ben Filkerton received one year in jail for selling a gun to Albert Bailey who got six months for selling it to Lawrence Coffey. Coffey was recently sentenced to 99 years in prison for shooting Probate Judge Dan Meador last June.
The China Clipper arrived at Guam from Manila covering 1700 miles in 10 hours and 30 minutes on its return to California. Aboard was the first Philippine Island airmail destined for the United States. It will depart for Wake Island early tomorrow morning.

Columbia December reports the Missouri board of curators will open bids tomorrow on the last of six campus buildings under a 1 339 000 expansion. The Ke Herman Construction Co of St. Louis won approval for a new library wing, the first building under contract, with construction to begin at once. Walter Williams Hall will honor the late founder of the journalism school. Other buildings likely start within the week.
