Womans Meeting Forms Local W C T U Chapter
Mrs Kate Newton of Carthage spoke at the women s meeting last Saturday outlining amendments on the official ballot this fall. Special focus was on the thirteenth amendment tied to the Volstead Act. A W C T U was organized to meet at Crow s store on September 18 with Mrs Curtis to preside. Every woman urged to attend.

In Barton County north of Jasper a west east strip yields a bountiful melon crop. Centered around Forest Grove and Esrom, wagon loads go to Lamar Pittsburg Golden City Lockwood Jasper and Ce all season. Forester Carr leads with about four acres and $1000. Harrington around $600 and Reno about $800 after hail loss.

Gaddis and wife six to seven miles southeast of Jasper on Thursday September 9. a boy to R. L. Cole and wife of Jasper on Monday September 13. Also Miss Jennie Schooler of Riverside Washington arrived last Sunday to help care for Mr. Schooler and Harold Schooler who have typhoid fever. The News costs $1.60 a year.
