Married Fifty Years In Jasper County Celebration
A Jasper County couple, Isade Lauderbaugh and wife, marked their 50th wedding anniversary at their home seven miles southwest of Jasper with 81 relatives present. They wed in Wilkes-Barre Pa in 1869. Their five children attended, and gifts included 140 in gold pieces, plus a gold band china dinner set. The couple’s extended family and friends sent congrats for continued health and happiness.

Children’s Home Society described as Missouri charity
A Missouri based Children’s Home Society, affiliated with the National Society, works to place homeless children into Christian homes with ongoing schooling and religious instruction. Rev A J Markley leads the Springfield district over two counties, with about 4686 Missouri children placed in homes over 19 20 years. The society relies on voluntary contributions and screens homes before final adoption, helping abused or abandoned children find loving, educated placements.

Funeral of Mrs Roberts Largely Attended
Funeral services for Mrs. C. B. Roberts were held at the Roberts home with a large turnout from Jasper and nearby towns. Clergy from Jasper and Aurora led the service and Eastern Star conducted graveside rites at Jasper Cemetery. Eugenia Manley, born 1880 in Parkersburg Iowa, was the only child of C. I. and Mary J. Manley. She grew up in Jasper, studied in Webb City and Independence, moved to Aurora with her parents, and later married Ollie Roberts of Jasper, leaving a daughter Pauline Manley Roberts aged 12. Relatives from distant towns attended the funeral.
