William Beckham died of consumption at his home twelve miles southeast of here after two years of ill health. He had planned a California trip with his son Ira before illness worsened. Beckham was buried Tuesday at the Mitchell Speaters following services with Reverend Wheeler. He was 52 years old.
The Associated Banks of New York Chicago St Louis and Kansas City instruct patrons that clearing houses voted to issue ceasece ne certificates and permit more currency shipments. Drafts against balances will be honored locally. No outside checks credited to St Louis accounts until further notice.
Jasper banks implement rules allowing only 20 percent of a person's balance in cash for checks up to 25 dollars. Only two such payments are allowed in one week. The policy remains in force for one week.
The Jasper banks enacted the rules last Monday effecting in all banks in Jasper county to conserve cash for immediate use. Both banks are solvent with reserves well above legal requirements and aim to minimize hardship while maintaining community business. Exchange will not be interrupted and no embarrassment is expected. the public should remain confident in local banks.
