At a conference of Federal Food Administrators in Columbia on Wednesday November 13 the group decided to abandon the eighty twenty rule in flour purchases. Consumers may buy four without substitutes but hoarding cull is still banned and merchants must not sell more than 200 pounds to a single buyer.

Joint sale announced for Mike Huffmen and F Wescott with Terry Wescott to be held at Huffman home 344 miles west and 1 mile south of Jasper on Tuesday December 3. Auction includes 8 horses 16 cows and calves 13 hogs and a variety of wagons implements and harness. A W Radford serves as auctioneer.
The M E Church invites all to join services with the pastor J W Moore encouraging attendance and participation. The message stresses the church as beneficial and asks members to lend their influence and be present.
Judge W. Waters, a respected Jasper County figure born in Virginia and long active in civic and church life, died at his Carthage home after months of illness at age 18. Funeral removed from First Methodist Church with large attendance. burial in Park Cemetery. Survived by wife Mrs Waters and several children. Also Ashley K. Guffey, 47, of Leavenworth, died November 14. funeral at Jasper with service by D. W. Fleeter. Civil War veteran, survived by widow, six children, one brother, and grandchildren.

Committee plans to publish an itemized donor list next week as further appeals continue.
J L Lillibridge of Carthage known as Griswold Grocery Co representative died at home last Friday night from pneumonia after influenza. He visited Jasper stores twice weekly for months. He succeeded Walter Ream who joined the Army last spring. The Womens Home Missionary Society of the M E Church met with Mrs AF Drake Tuesday afternoon and devoted the meeting to business. Mrs Belle Carter was elected to membership as refreshments were served. The next regular meeting will be with Mrs E W Scott.
Hastings Industrial Co of Chicago seeks to establish a creamery and butter factory in Jasper. Local farmers, each buying 1 to 2 shares at 100 dollars, back the project. Current cream output totals about 11,000 pounds weekly, 5,11600 pounds yearly, with 200,000 pounds of butter fat and potential overrun gains of 60,000 pounds butter. The venture promises savings of 20,000 to 30,000 dollars for farmers and stronger local commerce, reflecting successful cooperative butter factories in Wisconsin Minnesota and Iowa.
A French reader Germaine Bouthier from Rainte Terre Gironde writes to Jasper News seeking a one year subscription starting August 1. She includes a postal order for 11 francs and offers to pay any balance if needed with formal French courtesy and regards.
