A crowd gathered for a union patriotic service at the M E Church in Jasper but State Senator Moore of Lamar could not attend due to a cold car trouble and bad weather. Rev L L Pinnell and A J Selser stepped in with strong speeches. Moore sent a note apologizing for the absence and thanking the organizers for their efforts.

Commencement Week Activities Set With Address
Beginning with the Baccalaureate next Sunday rev L Le Pinnell will speak at the Jasper Churches service. Commencement exercises Thursday night at the M Ks Church with banquets and a schoolhouse Alumni event Friday. Mrs E L Thomas Leaves Jasper for Carthage
Mrs J L Thomas who sold her property here moved to Carthage last week to reside for a while with her husband the late J L Thomas. They came to Jasper nine years ago when Mr Thomas became president of the First National Bank. They were staunch church supporters and her work for the church will be hard to replace as friends regret the departure.

Mr and Mrs T B Hardaway hosted Loyd Hardaway and family of Carthage at a Sunday dinner honoring Mrs Louisa Hardaway on her eighty fifth birthday. She is mother to Loyd Luther Tom and Walker Hardaway and was reported in very good health. Luther Hardaway and family reside in Marceline Missouri while Walker and his family live in Fowler Kansas.
