Spring cleaning plans sweep yards and streets as residents unite with rake shovel and broom. The city council will haul away debris that cannot be burned to keep Jasper welcoming for visitors this spring.
Jasper interests press case for locating a proposed $100,000 county tuberculosis sanitarium in Jasper County near Joplin areas. A Jasper committee interviewed Commission members, favoring Jasper sites for healthful surroundings, proximity to transportation routes, and easier access for visitors, with officials pledging earnest consideration and a postponement to tour Jasper.
A meeting of citizens and the school district is set at the opera house Friday night March for nominating candidates for city and school district posts. Offices to be filled include one city alderman from each ward and the city marshal, plus two school directors for three years. Mayor CO Paylent urges all voters to attend.
J F Gulick sells nine young Mere ford bulls to Carl Miller of Bellview Kansas last week. Miller holds no government contract to furnish breeding cattle for Indian reservations.
H. B. Bell sells a farm about six miles southeast of Jasper to his brother in law Mr. Muller and relocates to his brother K. J. Bell’s property northeast of Jasper, reported last week.
The Jasper community celebrates the marriage of Lenn Naomi Pa'tereim to Roy Raymond Carter at the Teaus liful country home southwest of Jasper. The bride, from Jasper High School and praised for beauty and charm, becomes Mrs Carter, joining a long-established local family. The groom, a young farmer and stock man from two well known Jasper County families, plans to reside at the Will Ward farm a mile east of Jasper. The ceremony was conducted by Martin of Jasper and the entire town wishes the couple a happy life together.
A late frosty spell left the region cloudy and cool with over 2 inches of precipitation. Frosts damaged oats, wheat, and fodder. some fields uprooted or killed, but surviving wheat shows better prospects as rains and encouragement lift farmer spirits.
Lanar Road boosters C A Goodmin George Selipctner and Mr Collins of Lamar and Jim Box of Boston were in Jasper last week on behalf of Barton County auction of the Jefferson Highway. The gentlemen are praised as assets to their communities and commendations are given for public welfare efforts.
A new Missouri Pacific time card took effect Sunday morning altering train arrivals. The northbound morning train now arrives at 65, while the southbound morning arrives at 5.2 percent. The northbound afternoon unchanged at 47 and the southbound evening remains as is.
