A letter from Mrs Mary Us Barrett of Sabula now living in Jasper notes two years of illness under doctor care during wartime. Her friends regret hearing of her poor heart and health.

Stricken with paralysis hits Mrs Hendricks at home

Mrs Mary Hendricks widow of A H Mendtricks suffered a stroke Tuesday morning while attending to her house duties. She fell and burned her arm on a drone burner and the left side of her body and right side of her face were affected. She cannot speak and was not improving by noon yesterday.

Death of Dayringer Child

Little Daniel Dayringer born August 10 1916 died March 12 1917 at nearly three months. He grew sick soon after birth despite three doctors efforts. Funeral held at home Tuesday March 18 with Geo Johnson of Jasper conducting the service. buried Waters Cemetery. A Friend.

Mass Meeting to Name City and School Nominees

A mass meeting will be held at Nunnellys hall Monday night March 26 to nominate officers for the city and school district election on Tuesday April 2. Only city officer holding over is H FB Pitt councilman from the Must ward. A mayor three councilmen treasurer collector and marshal are to be elected this spring. The school district will elect two directors for three years and one for two years. Levy propositions include 6 cents extra on the $100 for school purposes and 20 cents on the $100 for building and furnishing equipment and repairs.

Taking Babies Treatment (Hydrophobia) Incident Near Jasper

Charley Thomas, a young farmer southeast of Jasper, lost a cow showing hydrophobia symptoms. He sent the head to the State Bacteriologist who confirmed hydrophobia. Thomas is now undergoing the treatment himself.

Obergfell Hurt After Stall Incident

A. Obergfell in the Diamond neighborhood was badly hurt last Friday when kicked in the bowels while driving horses into a barn. His condition was critical for a day or two but Dr. Schooler reports improvement. J. E. Hall reelected as manager of Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company for the next year at the recent board meeting. Card of thanks from D. P. Thomson J. L. Thomson and Frank Thomson and families for kindness after the death of Wm Thomson. Omer Webb’s household released from smallpox quarantine by the County Physician Guy, house and contents fumigated. Hog cholera under control in southwest Missouri herds

Prices for hogs at around fifteen dollars per hundred pounds prompt farmers to closely monitor hogs. Government and state efforts in southwest Missouri counties have reduced cholera this winter and spring. Local deputies will inspect farms at no charge, advising culling or treatment with serum costing 60 cents per hundred pounds.

Miss Fannie Whitesel and her mother Mrs Margeret Whitesel, wintering with relatives on route 2 Carthage, visited friends in juniper yesterday. Whitesel reports her mother in excellent health.
