The Alpha Club hosted a St Patrick’s party at Mr and Mrs Ol e Roberts home with many guests including the Mogava Murphys O’Finneys Cassidy O’Shaughnesys Dinty More and spouses in varied costumes. After games featuring spad and ham eck figures a luncheon of spad salad lettuce sandwiches coke and lemonades was served. The gathering ended after singing The Wearing of the Green and other Irish songs.

Winter Pig Shipped Turns Hard Luck Tale for Uncle Jack
Jack Bell of Jasper area visited town Monday recounting a 203 pound winter pig shipped last September to a North Missouri breeder. Three of his best sons received four pigs during the cold spell, but all but one died. Mr Dell, about eighty, remains unusually active for his age.

Son of Jasper Citizen Dies in Carthage
Albert Wayne Bedell died at his Carthage home last Friday from paralysis believed caused by a brain blood clot. He was a bridge contractor and construction engineer for Pioneer Construction Co. He leaves a wife and four children, two brothers, five sisters, and surviving parents in Jasper. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Jasper cemetery with M.E. Church officials officiating.

The Alpha Club met with Mrs TL FE Ballard on Wednesday afternoon. Ten members discussed World War topics including European nations involved and causes, United States intervention events, U S preparation, major battles, and war outcomes with several members named as presenters.
