Kansas City Central high school, unbeaten in three seasons, faced Jasper on their home court in a dramatic showdown described as the hardest, fastest game in the region. Webb City visitors, led by Crawford and Sharkey, traded leads with Jasper as Kyle and Brown sparked Jasper’s comeback. A Jasper county man sold a horse to an Arkansas buyer. The horse, once calm, proved skittish and wild after moving south. The seller blamed the animal’s Missouri upbringing, noting it was accustomed to auto noise and terrified by Arkansas silence.
Congressman Thomas Hackney reports pensions granted to Jasper County residents for the week ending February 20 1908. Names include John M Camp Carl Lunction Teane N Vaughn Lucien I Smith Henry Weight Sylvanus Keller Benjamin Kee Geo Hight Henry Cristy Wim Mead Edward Moloy Wm Cook and Job Casebolt with payments ranging from 12 to 815 dollars.
Wm Ward files ejectment with Justice Lyons seeking removal of P B Cole from Ward’s farm and 100 damages for non vacating. Ward says Cole had notice to quit by March 1 and refuses to leave. Case set for hearing Monday March 9.
