Zollie C. Davis of 720 Byars avenue died of heart disease at 5 30 pm after a period of poor health. A resident of Joplin for nine years, he retired from business three years ago and earlier farmed near Jasper and Rich Hill. Survived by widow Mons Davis sister of Tilton Dalton, three brothers George Davis of Rich Hill William C. Davis of New Orleans three sisters Reda Coppage Lizzie Freeman and Mrs John Craig. Funeral from his residence to Mount Hope cemetery Wednesday at 10 oclock under First Church of Christ Scientist oversight.

Was it a Tornado Over Our City Last Monday
Following heavy rain last Monday residents heard an 8 roaring noise unlike thunder as clouds obscured the sky. In Carthage a twisting motion was seen in the upper cloud bank and many attributed the sound to hail, but the tornado theory seems correct. No damage reported beyond cautious concern.
