The First National Bank of Junper offers several hundred copies of Missouri Laws Made Plain, compiled by Hon. Wm. M. Fitch formerly assistant attorney general of Missouri. The book covers plain statements of common legal topics, intended for ordinary citizens and free for bank customers.
Robert E. Hurt who has given great satisfaction as Jasper schools superintendent the past five years left with his family for Columbia this week. He will attend the university this summer and all of next year. He and his family have formed many close friends among our people who regret their departure. Arthur Hurt will also go to the university with his brother. Correspondents should mail their letters Monday to reach this office Monday evening.
Next Tuesday June 6 Carthage hosts a three day League Convention drawing 100 delegates from across the district. Jasper residents are praised for strong support and hospitality as plans invite delegates to stay with locals. The program includes song services, addresses by Roy Bowers W G Rector and J F King, devotions, business sessions, and various talks on culture, ministry, and community service.
A Sunday School rally invites a large attendance next Sunday at 9 45. PB Campbell Sup t urges teachers and pupils to arrive on time and keep the date in mind for a school session that will make everyone proud.
The opera house was crowded last Thursday night for commencement exercises with Velma Mackey Nell Hughes Martha Curtis Hazel Carter and Mendel Drake performing. Dennis Steiner gave the welcome address while Harold Carr Mae Wood delivered orations and Arthur Mendel Drake offered the valedictory Future America. Rev Mr Chutten of Lamar gave a humorous address and alumni reception followed with 150 alumni and friends attending plus a banquet and music by Ida Hunt and Miss Rhodes of Lamar. New alumni officers named May Towers president Grieve Teeter vice president Aretha Baird secretary Nellie Thomson treasurer Dennis Steiner sergeant at arms.
Rev W F Frazier of Van Wuren Missouri and Afr A W Bevers of Springdale Arkansas conduct a large tent revival beside the Baptist Church. Frazier has preached six years with growing success. Bevers leads a strong choir as the singer. The tent is electric lit with good seats and comfort, and the evangelist seeks broad public cooperation.

Jasper fans rally for a friendly bat game between north and south sides to boost funds for the Commercial Club road work. Lineups include J L Crawford and Lee Chambers among others, with players eager to relive past glory and entertain fans.
The George Arner home six miles northwest of Jasper was struck by lightning last Friday about 11 pm. The two story house suffered severe upper-room damage while the parents and six children slept upstairs. The family escaped injury aside from shock. a wall studding was torn to splinters. The house lacked lightning rods and damage is estimated from 200 to 500 dollars.
The M. Ed. Swailay School will meet at the church Friday morning at Co'eloul to practice the music for the children's day program. Prompt arrival is urged to ensure a successful morning session. Committee note.
Roy Avery and George Jackson relocate the Cash Clothing store to Picher Oklahoma near a new mining field south of Baxter Springs Kansas. They are building a store there and will operate in the interim while extending groceries and dry goods to the Picher location.
