Death of Mrs. E. E. Johnson of Springfield
Mrs. E. E. Johnson, eldest daughter of L. A. Cards, wife of a Springfield resident, died at her home Tuesday morning from heart disease after a prolonged ill health. Funeral services were held in Springfield today. She leaves a husband and an 18 year old son, her parents, a brother Edwin, and two sisters Maude and Alpha, all of Springfield, who together with the community express heartfelt sympathy.

Rain Helps Harvest and Grain Markets This Week
A sequence of rain on Sunday night and Monday boosts corn growth, with farmers noting better conditions than early July. Baby Clinics to Be Held Here in Jasper
The Red Cross station in eastern Jasper County will run a Baby Clinic on the first and fourth Wednesday each month. Local physicians will volunteer, with Red Cross nurse Grace Ra assisting. Dr Schooler leads the inaugural session July 14 at 2 p.m. over Crow Mercantile Co. Dr Knott and Dr Hendricks lead July 28 and August 11 clinics respectively. Children under six are eligible for examination and care guidance. Residents are urged to bring ill children and attend for preventive care.

Deardorff Property to Be Sold at Public Auction
The Deardorff store building and lot, occupied by Webb Bros, are advertised for public sale to the highest bidder under the will of W. E. Deardorff. Auction set for Saturday July 10 at 2 p m at the state building described. John W. Spaid bought 40 acres of C. R. Smith west of Jasper last week and then sold his interest in a farm northeast of Jasper, which he and Mrs. Larrick of Broken Arrow Okla owned jointly, Mrs Larrick purchasing Mr Spaid’s interest.

Dr Knott reports the birth of a baby girl to Chas Bauer and Jay on July 11 west of Jasper according to the Jasper Sun.
Avilla Voters OK 30 000 Road Bond for McDonald Township
Avilla special road district approved a bond issue of 30000 by 161 to 41. Plans call for about 14900 to build a hard surface road east seven miles to the county line as part of the state road with federal and state aid bringing total to 36400. Remaining 15000 to 16000 will fund improvements on three north south feeder roads intersecting the state road. Press reports estate leaves two Jasper daughters and two sons to receive 500 each within a year, executors named Charles S. Ward and Thomas B. Hardaway.
