A Farmland Bargain and a Courtship Plot
In a village tale, old Baumgartner schemes to gain Sally Pressel’s pasture by forcing a marriage between his son Seffy and Sarah’s daughter. Sally flirts, the auctioned clothes reveal social tightrope, and the father celebrates a “bargain” while Seffy learns that feeling can be currency in love's barter.
