Mr Don I iobertean and Miss Florence A Collins were quietly married at the Methodist parsonage in Lamar on Wednesday afternoon December 28 with Dr J J Martin officiating. The contracting parties are highly respected citizens of Lamar.
Advertised letters include Williams Lester Shannon Glen Ryan Ralph Osmuend C Weel Maud Bilith Margaret Anelayensee Li Des T B Hardaway Westminster and other potential addressees. The list reads as a small town postal note with several unclear spellings and missing initials.
Dr. D C Houser a veteran Carthage physician brings his family to Jasper and will base his new practice at the Carr and Horton feed barn. He has nine years of active work in Carthage and is a known member of the Houser Bros Veterans.
The Jasper area shows gradual improvement with rising farmhouses, higher land values, and more autos. Wheat and corn crops prospered, electric lights expanded, the Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company opened, streets were graveled, sidewalks cemented, and new stores and homes added as the town of 900 prepares for the next year. The commercial club forms to boost growth and attract settlers, with Jasper projected to outpace its past three years.
Mrs Laughead entertained several Carthage ladies including Mrs A H Laughead Mrs W C Thomas and Mrs John Marsh of Insper last Thursday at her home. Guests from Carthage included Mesdames Gierbart Frazier Stafford and L D Balfour with Miss May Stafford and Miss Meyer hoff.
Correspondents are instructed to mail their letters so they reach the office by Monday evening. The instruction emphasizes timely delivery to ensure inclusion in the intended dispatch.
The Masons and Eastern Star held a turkey dinner for the Jasper Masonic Cemetery fund. Ten turkeys were eaten and a 29 pound gobbler sold for 6.50, adding 100 to the cemetery fund. Frank Nebel baked the meals, with Eastern Star members assisting in serving and decorating.
Mr and Mrs Marsh hosted a New Year party Friday night December 31 featuring games music and a three course lunch. Guests included Mr and Mrs H J Deardorff Mr and Mrs St Crawford Mr and Mrs Joe Black Mr and Mrs Grant Rice Mr and Mrs Arthur Teeter Miss Pearl Canning and Mr Julian Miller.
Mrs Clyde Rains entertained Alpha Club Tuesday afternoon with roll call recitals on current events. Members debated reform topics and joined a New Years resolutions contest led by Miss Fox. A two course luncheon followed. Next meeting set with Mrs Leigs. Notices warn subscribers to check expiration labels.

Former resident A. Noland dropped in Friday evening and announced he had sold his Moritana farm and brought his free fly back to Missouri to look for a home. Noland went to Manian street years ago and filed on government land, improved it, raised sunni e good grain, and recently sold it for a nice price. They are now at Lime.
Robert Morton joins Joe Carr to form Garr Horton in poultry, egg and feed trade now adding oil and gasoline sales. Horton and Carr bring lifelong produce and feed experience, promising strong public service and expanded wholesale and retail offerings.
