The Postoffice Department in Washington introduces a new 1907 stamp series to be sold at 6000 post offices. Stamps will show the state and city of the office. The change aims to curb robberies and aid tracing stolen stamps, plus gauge office business and deter padding from cross-office use. Another item notes Hicks the miner recounting his 15 days buried at Bakersfield Cal and isolation from solicitors and costs.

Judge Gray reduced Popejoys sentence from six years to five years in the penitentiary after Popejoys father testified his son had no prior trouble. The court noted the prior good behavior as a factor in the lighter punishment for the Jasper incident involving two bogus checks.
