Rev. H. W. Pinkston, once pastor of the Christian church at Jasper, fell from a street car in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon. His foot was caught, a gash across the instep to the toe required 20 stitches, two toe bones were broken. Doctors expect no lasting injury.
The Alpha Club will not meet again until Tuesday afternoon December 25 when Mrs Frank Hice will entertain the club and host the next gathering.
Oren Thompson received a new overcoat and gloves matching that are said to be among the finest of their kind seen here. The coat and gloves were made from the hide of a bay horse owned by Mr. Thompson. The hide was tanned with the hair on and the coat is well lined and finished.
Frank King and his wife returned from Oklahoma last week with a deers hide he killed while away.
The Jasper Giants lost 44 to 25 at Mulberry on a night of rain and mud. Rides in three cars, a long road trip over 100 miles, many mishaps, and a rough drive back after games at Mulberry and Galena. Players Wheeler Rice and Carter faced plenty of obstacles, while a rough drive and poor roads marked the journey.
The Old Maids Club drew a large audience last Friday night and pleased the crowd with their entertainment. The Uthai Society was asked to repeat the act and it will be shown with the movie Saturday night, December 18, as two shows for one price of 2 cents.

Clarence Conroy and Miss May Wine married December 8 at the First M. I. Church parsonage in Carthage. Attending were friends Pern Weston, Sam Ralliman, Gladys Holmes, Enlah Weston, and others. The couple, both young locals, will reside with the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Wine, as they begin married life.
County Superintendent Selwols Ll. W. Kostas was notified that rural Jasper County teachers will distribute printed tuberculosis prevention materials to schoolchildren. The State Association notes rural death rates remain high and hopes school cooperation will overcome distribution costs funded by Red Cross Christmas seals. The campaign aims to reduce deaths and save money for Missouri.
Summit Schoolhouse hosts a pie supper on Friday night December 17 with a program featuring a one act comedy titled An Economical Boomerang. The cast includes Jay Adams as Mr Dabbleton Lucy Strecker as Mrs Dabbleton Clara Fenner as Mrs Plover Edyth Keener as Maggie John Hubbard as Doctor Philip Campbell as Teacher and Ralph Shell as among others. Everyone is invited to attend.
