Weeds have grown high due to heat and dryness, especially along the walk from the lumber yard to the railroad and in several alleys. The city council and marshal are urged to remove the unsightly growth promptly to protect public health.

Davis brothers enter Uncle Sam's service in two branches

Harry Davis enlisted in the Navy as a seaman and is stationed at Mare Island California while Vernie Davis serves in the Army in Camp Dodge Iowa. The News reported on Monday that both brothers have joined the military service.
