Stole Horse and Buggy From Grand Avenue Concertgoers

Roy Harris reported his 10 year old Henney buggy with a J F and FP brand horse stolen during a Grand avenue band concert last Saturday evening. The thief or thieves left wheel tracks south of Roberts and Son's store and eluded pursuit. A $650 reward by citizens plus $25 for the return of property were offered, with no solid clues yet. Two strangers were seen nearby but not identified. Police across Jasper and surrounding counties were notified by phone and mail.

Notice to settle debts after elevator sale

Notice from H. L. Taruman stating that after selling his elevator he will close his books by August 15 and that all indebted parties should settle promptly at Jasper bank or at his residence by cash or approved note.

Tragic Self Destruction In Mt Carmel Neighborhood

Mrs. Nettie Newsom wife of R H Newsom known as Jed Newsom in the Mt Carmel area northeast of Jasper died by suicide Tuesday morning at six. No witnesses but investigators ruled it suicide after she loaded a shotgun and fired on the front steps. In poor health and suffering melancholy for a year she had hinted at wolf destruction. The scene was grisly with head and brain fragments scattered as family returned home to the fatal sight. She was about 45 years old, came from North Missouri several years ago, and was buried at Mt Carmel cemetery after services yesterday.

Asbury Boom Boosts Joplin Pittsburg Line Town

The Joplin Pittsburg electric line survey through Asbury boosts Jasper County growth. A bank will be organized soon and many new houses are set to be built within two months. Over 30 lots have already sold for homes or businesses amid a lithic town boom.

Death of 20 month old girl in this city

Little Pauline, the 20 month old daughter of A. B. Saulteman, died at the family home last Thursday evening after a week's illness from spinal meningitis. The remains were taken to Carthage on Friday for interment in the city cemetery there. The Saulieman family thanks friends and neighbors for their kindness during the illness.

Carthage Kids Triumph Over Jasper in Close Game

The Carthage Stars, a 15-year-old basketball group, edged Jasper kids 8 to 6 at the park grounds. Crowd reports a creditable contest with lively play and a strong defensive effort by both sides.

Jasper School Board Extends Term to Nine Months

The Jasper school board voted to extend the term to nine months and start earlier to avoid warm weather. Classes begin September 24 with Prof Moon as new superintendent arriving soon. Boarding for tuition pupils sought, and N A Mackey re elected secretary while Hi Hendricks remains treasurer.

W L Rice Moves Family to North Main Property

W L Rice relocated his family from Webb City to the North Main residence recently bought from Fred Merrell. Merrell moved to his other home on the former Dr Leng property on Game Street.
