O. W. Thomas elected superintendent of the Jasper schools. Wilkerson, who was recently elected, has resigned from the position.
Ralphj Burkett a young farm hand employed by Joe Edwards was kicked on the head and face by a mule yesterday. He was rendered unconscious for a time and brought to Dr Knott's office where his cheek required stitching inside and out.

Committees cover finance advertising and farm machinery with names listed. Farmers urged to fundraise and contribute exhibits to boost one of the best fairs yet with new machinery displays promised.
The finance committee of the Jasper City Fair is summoned to meet at Farmers and Merchants Bank on Sunday evening in August at 0 oclock. Chairman N H Patterson presides as meeting organizer.
George Wolfe age 1 and Mur phy Wolfe were injured when a buggy passed under a low telephone wire at H O Wurl’s property Tuesday. The toppled buggy tore the top, the horse bolted, and occupants were thrown onto rocks. George suffered brain concussion and remained unconscious for a time. City notices warn weed control on streets and alleys, urging property owners to comply or request manpower from City Marshal W Hager.
A respected physician from a nearby city drove a Ford runabout into Jasper, turning around in the middle of a block and nearly colliding with a vehicle carrying Miss Pauline Roberts and several youths. The incident highlights that careful drivers can ignore regulations in smaller towns.
A growing sentiment backs a soldiers and sailors memorial hall in Jasper. Farmers and others promise liberal contributions if Jasper undertakes the project, with action expected in a few days. Also reported this week were births: a son to John Maxwell and wife southeast of Jasper on Wednesday July 30, and a son to K L Jones and wife northeast of Jasper on Sunday August 3.
Miss Olive Lee Spaid marked her ninth birthday on Tuesday afternoon with about 25 young friends attending. The party featured time under shade trees, ice cream near the end, and many gifts. Mrs. J. W. Mrs. J. C. Miller died at her son Kenney Miller’s home on Thursday August 1 after a long illness. The immediate cause was apoplexy though she had not been well since a bout of influenza last November.
