Property Purchase Near Zion Church by Jasper Resident

John Schooler bought 160 acres just south of Zion Church, east of Jasper, from Phin J. Jowe and his mother. Subscribe for your daily paper at the News office, Miss Bertha Jones of Marilon, Ind. Jept Tuesday night for her home after a four month visit with cousin Mrs. M. L. Amerphere and relatives in this vicinity.

Commercial Club Meets on Road Work Plans and Finances

The Commercial Club discussed grading and graveling roads north of Dublin and west from the school house. Secretary Webb and W T Simmons were task- ed to oversee the projects with a potential Club donation up to about 100 dollars per mile.

Laughead Lumber Company Sells Yard in Jasper

Laughead Lumber Company sold their Jasper yard last week to Burgner-Bowman Lumber Company which will supply trade from its existing yard while the Laugheads move to Uniontown Pa. Mr. A H Laughead served Jasper as mayor and in other civic roles for nearly a decade.

J P Leiss Quits Elevator After Stock Sale

Jasper Elevator Company led by J P Leiss has closed after selling flour feed and grain stock. The business used Brand Dun woody elevator but cannot relocate for a year. Leiss did not reveal future plans. Dr W J Houser and wife of Carthage and Eugene Smith dined with Dr D C Houser family. Wa Wallace of Seneca and Miss Lessie Pinnell of Springfield visited Rev L L Pinnell family.

Fire Tragedy Strikes Keene Family Home in Aprild

Charles Keene of WIL Keener and family suffered severe injuries when an oil-soaked fire ignited in a kitchen stove. The 10 year old daughter upstairs leapt to safety through a window. the house and contents were destroyed. Keene remains in serious condition at the hospital.

Will of Lauderbaugh filed for probate in Jasper County

The will of Lauderbaugh was filed for probate Monday. The personal estate goes to wife Mary C. Lauderbaugh with a life estate in the remainder. Upon death the estate is to be shared equally among children Irina Clack William Lauderbaugh Maggie Byers Elmer J. Lauderbaugh of Jasper County and Minnie Frost of Years Idaho. The will dates May 10 1916 with witnesses W Carter M G McChegor and a Hough. Son William Lauderbaugh named executor.

John Marsh Resigns From NK Bank Post

J N Marsh assistant cashier of the Farmers and Merchants Bank resigns to move with his family to Amarillo Texas around May 10. He came here years ago from Carthage, served one term as city treasurer, and has been elected to the city council. The community will regret his departure. successor unnamed.
