Hartfield area residents share New Year visits and weekend scenes across towns from Jamestown to Fredonia. Frequent hosts include Crandalls Hoveys and Robisons while families attend dances, school reopenings, and Home Bureau meetings. Notables travel to Erie and Toronto with extended family updates.
Miss Helen Skillman left Thursday for Oberlin College after vacation with grandparents H. W. Flahavan. Bernice Lewis returned to Syracuse and Helen Furlow to Fredonia Normal to resume duties Monday. Mr and Mrs William Hamilton hosted Mrs Jennie Gravit in Dewittville for supper Saturday night. Miss Mary Harvey of Sherman was mentioned in town notes.
The Woman's Baptist Union met Friday with Mrs. Laura Smiely as hostess and a fair attendance. Members quilted, sewed carpet rags, and shared a tureen dinner. Next meeting is January 17 with Mrs. Burt Cross. The Home Bureau gathered Thursday in Grange Hall with a small turnout and dinner served.
Mrs Laura Smiley led the meeting on kitchen improvement and practical dish washing. Mrs Theodore Halberg recently returned from the W C A Hospital much improved. Miss Mildred Lawson works in Arthur H Hitch cock’s Jamestown office. Miss Florence Lawson resumed Jamestown schoolwork after holiday. Mr and Mrs Robert Hardyman and Mrs Edith Shaver host their daughter’s guests due to illness. Mrs Henry Edmonds, once sick, is able to go out. Miss Rachel Halberg visited Mrs Edith Shaver Saturday. Mrs Frank Stowell spent Thursday with her father at West Ellery. E W Brownell of Jamestown visits F W Stowell.
