In Detroit on February 13 a Western Union Telegraph office raid left one hold up man dead and three private officers wounded. Private policemen John Scott and Jesse Catlin died. Patrolman Raals and Captain Bailey also participated, with the robbers escaping in a seized auto after a street fight that followed an alarm.
