National Lottery To Judge Local Youths Tuesday

Three hundred fourteen local men aged 21 to 36 registered under the conscription act. Next Tuesday October 29 the national lottery will call numbers, and those drawn must disclose dependents to the county draft board to determine Army call. Numbers will be posted publicly as the process begins in Washington DC.

Case of Typhoid Reported Here Seeks Immunization

Charlotte Baker is reported by local doctors and the county health officer to have typhoid fever. Several other illness cases in town are believed to be typhoid. The health nurse will be here Tuesday and all children with parental consent will be vaccinated at the school. Precautions urged for all, especially those exposed, to prevent a typhoid epidemic.

Howard Stubblefield is the new minister at the Jal Church of Christ arriving from Seagraves to replace Charles Hamner who returned to Wichita Kansas. A revival is planned starting November 11 with Melvin Wise of Big Spring preaching. Wise previously conducted successful meetings in Jal.
