Improvements For Ball Park Plans For Future Use
The ball diamond used last summer for daytime play will change when fans return next season. Donations or shares have reached 2350 dollars to start materials for construction. Grand stands for 300 to 400 seats have ordered, field lighting for soft and hard ball to be installed, and the park will be turned over to the city after costs are covered. Youth groups may run concessions.

Jal Band Attends Game At Kermit
The Jal High School Band attended a Texas Tech versus Abilene Christian College game in Kermit on Saturday. A town parade featuring the Monahans Jal Wink and Kermit bands started at 6 PM, followed by a dance from 6:30 to 7:30 in the Kermit auditorium. The bands performed at halftime but the Kermit band did not march due to time constraints.

Hobbs Game Week Pep Rally and Kangaroo Court Held
During the week before the Hobbs game, JHS students organized a snake dance led by two drummers and senior class president Jimmie Curtis. A town bonfire followed a spontaneous pep rally, then a Kangaroo Court initiation of freshmen before a 9:00 p.m. senior-sponsored dance at the tennis courts.

The city golf tournament drew 380 entrants across three brackets. George Addison won the 1st flight with Roy Hayes as runner up, A A Chon topped the 2nd flight over Jack Purvis, and Jimmy Marlar claimed the 3rd flight with Slim Hampton as runner up. Ada Hair Named Silver Pack Editor At ENMC
Ada Mae Hair a senior at Eastern New Mexico College and former Jal High School student was named editor of the Silver Pack college annual. Her election awaits ratification by the student council and she majors in commercial education with a English minor. Bus Breaks Down En Route To Jal Panthers Game
On October 25 the Jal Panthers bus broke a right rear wheel on the Texas line while en route to Monahans for a football game. After a 20 minute delay the band bus arrived, agreed to stay with the players, and Mr. Walker retrieved a truck to tow the bus back to Jal.
