Methodist WMS met Monday afternoon and began a new study course Tragedy Triumph taught by Mrs G L Keever. A Bible study was reviewed by several members. Fifteen attended, with a list of named attendees including Mrs Haid, Mrs Dooley, Mrs Pendleton and others.
The RFC took over Red Bluff Water Power Control District finances by forming a trusteeship. J D Shaw named manager while J E Starley resigns as general manager. The district carries 145000 past due, with 105000 interest and 40000 principal. Burgess Burgess and Scott of El Paso named trustees attorneys.
O C Fisher Lea County tax assessor and collector spent the week taking renditions from Jal property owners. He headquartered at City Drug Store and plans a return next week to finish work. Mrs P S Norfleet traveled to El Paso to visit her daughter. Mona Bradford visited Lubbock. Mrs Pete Arpin moved back to Jel from El Paso. Mrs D M Dinwiddie and Mrs Wallace Mitchell went to Roswell for treatment. Floyd Haynie operated at Ranger last week and is doing well. Mrs John Kennedy and Mrs Pat Gladden went to Eunice to escort Mrs Ford to stay with relatives.
The senior league hosted a Friday night games party at the Methodist Church with sponsor Mrs Walter Pendleton assisting. About twenty five attended and refreshments of potato chips sandwiches and lemonade were served. Mrs Elmer Turner and Mrs Rack Ward plan to return from Fresno California this week after visiting their mother.
Miss Zanelle Post leads the Choral Club in a semi annual program Monday. The first half features sacred hymns and the second half presents a Dude Ranch skit with Marion Carew as the cowboy character in the Western songs.
American Legion will hold a meeting tonight at the Monterrey Hotel at 7 p.m. to reorganize after recent leadership changes. Plans aim to restore regular meetings and improve functioning.
C E Brown and Tom O'Donnell hosted a dinner and a Forty-Two game night. Enchiladas and tacos were served. Guests included Miss Zanelle Post Miss Stella Sullivan Mr and Mrs John Eddy and Nyla Ree Chitwood. Chick Walker and Mrs Emilou Betty joined for the Forty-Two game.
