Contractors bid on a 14 inch gravity flow pipeline by Texas New Mexico Pipeline Co. to carry 42000 barrels daily from Langlie Mattix and Skelly fields east four miles then northwest to Penrose Hardy and others. The line spans twenty miles and ties into existing gathering lines with emergency use provisions.

C. S. Hobbs, a negro, entered a guilty plea in district court at Lovington this week to burglary charges. Sentencing was deferred until his record can be brought up. He admitted burglarizing the Gulf Service Station here recently.

County School Opening Date Set Sept 5

Lea County schools will open Tuesday September 5 after a countywide calendar was adopted. Registration for high school students is August 30 31 and September 1, with faculty meetings on September 4. Christmas break ends January 3 and Good Friday is March 22. Schools close May 24. Bill McMahon returns to Houston to prepare for Texas UT.

Golf Tournament Still Unfinished By First Flight

The golf tournament started a month ago remains unfinished as the first and second flights wait for a completion between Virgil Carnahan and Kenneth Davis. The first prize silver loving cup from The Flare awaits presentation once the playoff occurs. Business kept Carnahan from golf recently, delaying the event. J. M.
