Serious Accident At Wilson Injures Six Year Old

Six year old Frank Carlow was seriously injured yesterday when a dynamite cap exploded while he played with companions in a vacated nearby house. The blast blew off a thumb and two fingers and damaged facial and eye areas. He was taken to Jackson for treatment by Dr. Huff, with potential blood poisoning feared.

Soldiers Homecomings and Overseas Service Notes

Notes on Jackson Hole servicemen returning from overseas or on furlough include Percy Nowlin arriving home after twenty months abroad, Karl Kent reporting back from Ft. George Wright, Claude Simpson returning to Jackpol after two years in the 1th Engineers, James Bird and Almer Nelson back in the U. S. A., Fred Carlson still in France, and Ray Reed listed for discharge from the army of occupation in Germany. A telegram to the Reed family confirmed Ray’s imminent return. Allen Budge’s welcome home from France drew about fifty guests at the James Budge home, with a later dance and a midnight feast followed by departure.

Jackson School Elections Shape Valley Education

Voters in Jackson last Monday elected L L Lions trustee for three years and approved a three and a half mill tax for better schools. A special meeting June 6 will decide an additional mill tax, with plans for three new teachers and rural high school district petitions to boost district 20. A central school debate continued amid concerns over epidemics and funding, while other trustees changed hands and a consolidated school idea lingered.

State History Society Preserves Wyoming in Great War Record

The Wyoming State Historical Society highlights the effort to collect and preserve the names and rewards of every Wyoming man who served in the Great War. Agnes Wright, State Librarian, appointed August 2018, chairs the State Historical Committee as it organizes in counties with volunteers to complete statewide documentation. The project, begun under the authority of the legislature creating the State Historian’s office, now covers sixteen of twenty one counties and relies on local committees and civic leaders to finish gathering materials.

Barn Fire Destroys Structure at Bishop Winegar’s

A barn at Bishop Winegar’s burned yesterday afternoon, totalling the loss with no valuables inside as children’s play with matches is suspected. The town gathered but could not save it. The Ladies Guild will hold a cooked food sale Saturday May 17 at the Jackson mercantile store starting 10 o clock, donations accepted. Administrative notes mention school funding and a three and one half mill special tax discussed in Wilson district 19 with Jon Netherpout elected to finish Abe Ward’s term, while a separate special tax proposal failed.

Survey Party to Begin Work at Once in Hoback Valley

JT Mathie, a U S highway engineer, has led a party of seven surveyors into the Hoback valley to reach Victor. They expect arrival this afternoon or tomorrow and will start at the mouth of the Hoback, survey the river to the rim, then return to survey the road from the mouth of the Hoback to Ch.

What Are You Going To Do About The Victory Loan

A campaign notice urges residents to donate to the Fifth Victory Loan with a deadline of midnight, Saturday May 10. Jackson Hole has raised $9,250 of a $43,750 quota, trails other districts, and asks residents to call the Jackson State Bank to pledge funds.
