Thedd Fellows hosted the third weekly card party of winter drawing about a crowd to the W.O. W. Hat. Eighteen tables of High Five played with Mrs. E. Pails and Mr. Win. Stevenson receiving top honors. A luncheon of ham sandwiches coffee and cake followed and dancing caped the evening.
A cheerful old lady signals healthy digestion. If digestion is impaired or relief is needed, Chamberlain's tablets are suggested to improve digestion and gently move the bowels. The ad claims the product is valuable everywhere.
Letter from Sheriff McMinn to Deputy Robinson discusses House Bill 122 amended in 1917 requiring inspection of all horses mules and asses regardless of destination. Inspection fees of 20 cents per head for horses and mules and 5 cents per head for cattle apply. funds go to the county general fund.
M. H. Kneedy, back from Butte, reports securing a twenty-barrel mill from Marvel Milling Co. to ship soon after erecting buildings for installation. The unit supports adding up to twenty barrels, with expansion possible, and aims to grow dairy product supply by producing flour and feed locally.
A party of about fifty youths organized a surprise gathering for Lester Leek on Wednesday evening. Six sleigh loads carried guests including Mrs. Preston, Mrs. Kautaen, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller, and Mrs. Leek. The event featured cards, music, dancing, a Kangaroo Court, and an excellent supper. The celebration lasted until early morning.
Mr Samuel B Smith and Dion Margaret Locher wed at noon last Saturday March 17 at the home of Mr Sumli s parents with T H Raster officiating. The couple reside on Sam s Snake River homestead three miles below Menor Ferry.
State Buys More Feed The State purchases fifty tons of hay from Wm. Crawford of Jackson for elk feeding. Loss of life reported among young animals on the feed ground and in the hills. Few, if any, of this year’s crop in the hills likely to survive to spring. Walter Scott reports his family is well after a ptomaine illness. For sale 160 acre ranch near Spread Creek with springs and shelters. Also yearling colts offered by Otto Kusche and others. Community notices include L D 8 conference attendance and seed and butter ad. April items mention Bachelors Dance API 195n.
The W. O. W. Hall program directed by Mrs Richard Mayer for the Civic League drew a packed house last Friday. Each number was well received with merited applause and the director’s selections and trained renditions made the evening entertaining for all attendees.
Aspen Ridge notes detail grain shipments to Wilson and Victor, and a missing man with alibi rumors. Social events include the Grovont Reiter Society anniversary with a fundraiser for a new church, while local livestock accidents, travel plans, and visits to relatives populate the bulletin.
A bull elk attacked haystacks at the 8 N Leek ranch on Wednesday. Mr Bile perched atop a stacked haypile, rope thwarted efforts to pull him down, forcing officials to open another stack. Dr Huff and Tom Lee also encountered a roadbound elk, with Lee finally dragging the animal into deep snow using a rope.
