Local Chapter Hosts Social Card Party Night

The local chapter of I O O F hosted a social card party featuring Progressive High Five. Miss Susie Henrie won the prize after a tiebreaker. An excellent lunch, dancing, and hospitality were noted as the event's highlights. The Jackson Benevolent Society has renamed The Civic League, meeting every third Saturday, with next at Mrs. H. M. Ely’s home on March Mth. A weigh-dance at L D S church is set for Feb 27, 5 to 10 PM for kids, admission 10 cents. Two choice residence lots are for sale nearby, via James R. Starson, agent. Mrs. Cora Sebastian is visiting Driggs for dental work this week.

Elk shipment planned to Virginia preserve from Jackson corrals

Will Ship 100 Elk D G Bowlin of the Biological Survey to capture 100 head of strong elk calves for shipment to a guinea preserve in Virginia. Bowlin has penned hundreds in corrals northeast of Jackson and will begin sorting and loading when weather allows. Howard Eaton of Wolf Wyoming is expected to lead the transport.

Leek Ranch Visit Showcases New Heating and Lighting

A party of ten visited S N Leek ranch Monday night to inspect the water system and heating and lighting plant recently installed. The blizzard delayed travel, but the group reached the ranch and enjoyed Mr Leek's hospitality. The hot water system maintains 70 degrees throughout the home, burns wood or coal, and powers an electric generator for full house lighting. The report praises Leek's perseverance and hints Jackson may soon see broader adoption of such comforts in homes. Joy Novak seeks harness gear in Jackson. Ray and Pred Storer visited Dry Hollow on Friday.

Community Club Meeting Seeks Road, Water Power, and Bridge Plans

The annual Community Club gathering at St. John's House on Monday March 5 aims to elect officers and discuss projects. Topics include bridges over the Gros Ventre, road improvements from Jackson to Snakeiver and Dry Hollow, water power ideas, and promoting winter tourism. The club may purchase government surplus bridge-building machinery for loan or lease. Eight o'clock sharp.

Night operation at St John’s Hospital aids success

Mrs Alfred Gould suffered a severe appendicitis attack Wednesday night at St John’s Hospital. The operation was successful and the patient is recovering. Doctors praised the new electric lighting installed by St John’s Mission for aiding the surgery. Mr and Mrs Gould had come from Elk with Mr and Mrs J D Ferrin for land business, delayed by the storm in Jackson. Jackson Drug Company announces a cash basis after March 1 1917 with bills due monthly. Wm Kirk buys part of Bik Olgar Store from J R Jones and plans spring construction. Frank McBride and wife Roy McBride returned from Idaho after their father’s funeral. Horse Barley seed offered by Jas Williams in Grovont Wyoming.

Pure Food Club meeting and local notices

Pure Food Club met Friday afternoon at Mrs J R Jones home with many members and guests. Prizes were won at four tables and Valentine themed favors given. Next meeting planned for Friday March 2 at Mrs Winger's home. Also includes local ads: livestock for sale, illness of Joe Deyo, baby birth, hens and eggs for sale, and a broken arm consultation for Mrs James May.

Blizzard disrupts paths and mail routes delaying travel to Jackson. Moran mall trip occurred while land opening work continues in the snow. War news from Victor notes no German overt acts. Wolf Bounty Association Meeting in Jackson Hole

All valley livestock men are urged to attend a Jackson Hole Wolf Bounty Association meeting at the Club House in Jackson at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 3 to levy an assessment for overdue coyote and wolf vouchers and decide future steps. The Forest Supervisor will meet Grovont permittees at 10:00 AM the same day to discuss building a drift fence between Grovont and Green River cattle.

Course of Instruction After Mission at St Johns Church

A course of instruction begins after the St Johns Mission from the 6th to the Jat of Bebonary with Sunday and Wednesday lectures at 4 PM and a Sunday service schedule in February and March. Enrollment is encouraged though not binding and names may be given to Mr Kalco at or before the first meeting.
