Canning expert lectured on preserves and beet sugar

Mrs Olive Mavens representing the beet sugar industry of the West arrived in the valley last week on an advertising mission. She lectured at St John s Club Room on canning and jelly making, noting beet sugar s parity with cane and sharing fruit preserving tips. Forest Regiment Ready for Service in France

The 10th Engineers Forest, known as the lumberjack regiment, has been recruited to full strength and is preparing for woods operations in France. Washington hosts drills as Colon Woodruff leads with a staff of practical lumbermen and foresters, equipping portable sawmills and logging gear for army use. Schools Open September 3rd in Three Districts

Schools in Jackson Cheney and Flat Creek will open Monday September 3rd with GC Hemphill in charge of District No 20 and his sister Nancy Hemphill teaching in Jackson. Camera Car Arrives To Promote Valley Paper

E Bruce manager of the Kem merer Camera arrived in Jackson Valley in the Camera Car to canvass the region for the illegal county paper. Bruce, a noted hustler, has built a strong managing record and vows the camera will serve every hole in the valley, with county proceedings and records. He traveled via Hoback canyon and One Green River country, accompanied by Beckstead. Others passing through include Mrs W B Harrington of Idaho Falls and Miss Helen Harbaugh of Kansas City en route to Jackson Lake. Perry Bowlsby, Te ton Pass, and Webster LaPlint noted haying in good shape at his ranch on Watreek. W P Tedmond and family visited Crystal Creek ranch, carpenters expect Abel work finished by Saturday. W H Campbell and family crossed Hoback en route to the Park.

Dre He Scarborough and his wife arrived Wednesday to care for patients in the valley. The Jacksons Tale party including Mr and Mrs Roy McBride and others visited Lake on Sunday. Roy McDougall returned from a five weeks camping trip with Chicago's R Cuykendal and Philadelphia's Dr Albert D Ferguson. Jos Wert and Ray Ely joined as helper and cook. The Woodman pool hall, run by W I Stevenson, was sold to Maurice Williams who plans to offer billiards cigars and beverages in the new ownership.

Progressing Swiftly on Tetot Pass Road Expansion

KE Miller reports Tetot Pass road work progressing in splendid shape. Completed 2800 feet on the west side recently, with 4000 more feet started from the top on the east side. The crew aims to finish the ramble to the swing by Saturday September 1 and push to the Orndall roadhouse. If weather holds, some fall work on the snow slide gulches may occur. Next year the Tetons pass project should be entirely completed.

Webb visitors return after stay in Gor home

Mrs Webb, two flightiters, visiting in the George Gor home, returned to Twin Falls late last week. Toerston is spending the week in Bowie. Mr and Mrs G W Kelly and children spent Sunday in town. Mrs Ivan Kelly returned home with them for a week’s visit.
