Butts County Fair Opens October 10 For Fourth Day Event

The third annual session of the Butts County Fair begins Tuesday October 10 and runs through Friday October 13. Premiums total 600 to 890 dollars with cash payment. Aeroplane flights and fireworks are highlights, with a large parade and automobile tour promoting the event in Jackson.

The Jackson Rifles stationed at Camp Harris Macon have been invited to attend the Butts County Fair Home Coming exercises Brigadier General Walter A Harris has approved the move and the decision from Governors Island New York is awaited The event is expected to be a featured military display at the fair and attendance is sought with proper authorization

Death Calls to Mr. H. C. Thaxton

Prominent young man of Butts county dies of appendicitis after operation in Atlanta. H. C. Thaxton, 81, longtime merchant and former printer, survived by wife Blanche Barnes Thaxton and a large family. Funeral held at First Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Robert VanDeventer officiating. Interment in City Cemetery.

Infant Death Near Cork Funeral Held at Sandy Creek

The eleven month old infant of Mr and Mrs Ward Jenkins near Cork died Monday afternoon. Funeral services were led by Rev W O Sharp at Sandy Creek Tuesday afternoon with burial in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Rules Governing Butts County Fair Announced

Rules permit free space and entries with blanks from the Secretary. Exhibits must be in place by Oct 9 and the fair runs Oct 10 to Oct 18 1916 with daily hours. Exhibits stay within Butts County and are not insured by the association.
