The William McIntosh chapter of D A R will meet Tuesday afternoon at 8 o clock with Mrs J R A. Officers request full attendance. Mrs E D Tolleson hosted a bridge luncheon in McDonough in honor of Miss Rosa Newton with guests from Jackson and McDonough.
A simple ceremony conducted by Rev. England of the Methodist church united Viola Slaughter and a Wat kin, with family and a few young people present. Misses Mollie Watkins Julia Frances and Louise Allen served cream and cake. The couple will reside in Atlanta where Mr Allen works as a bookkeeper for the Pathe Film Corporation.
The marriage of Miss Nannie Lou Clark and Mr. Hine took place Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. S R England officiating. Many friends extend cordial congratulations to the popular couple.
Miss Dollie Thaxton and Mr George Singley united in marriage on November 15 at Judge J. H. Ham’s residence with the ceremony performed there. Friends extend congratulations and best wishes to the couple.
Miss Thaxton and Mr. Chambers married at Mrs. Lewis White’s Jackson home on Sunday afternoon November 16. Judge J. H. Ham officiated. Miss Thaxton is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Thaxton of Worthville and Mr. Chambers is a well known county farmer. The couple received many congratulations from friends.
On November 16 at Mrs. Lewis White’s home Miss Bessie Chambers wed Elmo Cawthon with Judge J. H. Ham officiating. The Cawthon family is linked to the late W. M. Chambers and W. H. Cawthon. A separate home ceremony united Miss Emma Allen and E. B. Allen with a chrysanthemum adorned parlor and a fern altar. A rock party and shower honored Miss Rosa Newton, bride-elect, hosted by Mrs. J. H. Carmichael and Miss Helen Carmichael with 36 guests enjoying flowers, yellow and white chrysanthemums, and a silver center basket on the table.
The second meeting of Viola Slaughter’s Music Study Club met at her studio on Saturday morning. Students studied well known Italian operatic airs, first on piano then on a Sonora Machine courtesy of S. H. Thornton. The session included Italian pronunciation drills and a short theory quiz.
A late afternoon bridal shower featured festive comps of yellow and white mints and a hot luncheon at small tables. Hostesses assisted by Misses Virginia Carmichael, Edna Copeland, Marion Carmichael, and Elizabeth Lester served guests. The guest of honor was given a gift basket, and attendees admired a clothes line loaded with lingerie and linen.
Mr J B Harrison spent the weekend with family here. William Wright traveled from Atlanta for the weekend. Mr and Mrs S H Eiseman announce the birth of a daughter. Mr and Mrs H L Allen visited relatives in Monroe county Sunday. Mrs J C Meredith of Griffin shopped in town last Thursday. Mr W A Smith of Demopolis Ala visited relatives here the past week. Mrs W A Newton returned from Atlanta Wednesday. Mrs T H Buttrill returned from Savannah and Greymont. Miss Rosa Newton visits Mrs Charles Robison in Atlanta this week. Mr J Fred Ball of Bronwood spent the weekend with his parents.

Mrs. R. N. Etheridge returned from Lakeland Florida. Mrs. R. Park Newton and Miss Mary Newton plan a Atlanta bridge party hosted by Mrs. Charles Robison for Miss Rosa Newton on Friday. Jackson guests head to McDonough for the Tolleson bridge luncheon honoring Miss Rosa Newton including Miss Mary Newton, Miss Pauline Mallet, and others.
Mrs Annie Fenner of Seattle arrived this week to visit Mrs G Landsburg. Mis Fenner formerly lived in Jackson where she has many friends still.
