According to the will of A. K. Hawkes the Atlanta philanthropist who died last week Jackson may receive 7000 for a children's library. Hawkes left an estate valued over 100000 largely to charity and also remembered Emory University and other colleges and institutions. If Cedartown Dalton West Point Madison and Elberton meet the requirements within twelve months the 7000 gifts go to their children libraries otherwise the sums go to Thomasville Waynesboro Jackson Waycross and Hawkinsville. Hawkes was a prominent Georgia citizen devoted to charity education and uplifting the poor.

Visits Jackson After Thirty Nine Years
Dr Charles Cargile of Bentonville Arkansas native of Butts county returned to his birthplace after thirty nine and a half years. He attended the Southern Medical Society in Atlanta then spent a few days visiting the county. He is related to the Crawford and Pittman families and was warmly welcomed by old friends in Jackson.

Mrs J H Rauls Dies After Illness in Pepperton
Mrs J H Rauls died after a prolonged illness at her Pepperton home on November 16. The funeral was held Friday at 11 00 am at Bethany church Henry county with Rev Atkinson of Morrow Station officiating. She leaves a husband several sons and daughters and many relatives. Born in Henry county she had long resided in Butts county and was well known locally.

The Atlanta paper reports a historic sale where Jackson, Georgia merchants J. L. Bailey and J. B. Carmichael sold 900 bales of spot cotton at 20 cents a pound. The $90,000 lot was bought by J. E. Fire at fair grounds destroys ticket office building
