Friends mourn Dr R A Franklin’s father J R Franklin of Barnesville who died at 2 AM after months of illness. He was 83, a longtime Barnesville resident, survived by wife three daughters and four sons. Funeral at home Friday morning. Kiwanis Club Names New Treasurer and Plans Convention
At a Tuesday meeting the Kiwanis Club elected J. W. Cole treasurer replacing Warren Furlow who departs for St. Petersburg Florida. Delegates W. A. Dozier and P. M. Coleman will attend the Atlanta international convention. The Jackson club will operate from Majestic Club with plans to meet June 5 at Hotel Buchanan.

Friends report J. Mote Watts, a veteran hotel man, will manage the Foy Hotel at Indian Springs for the upcoming season. The hotel opens next Saturday after several improvements. Watts is well known to travelers and has long been with leading South resorts.

Methodist Parsonage Razing Underway in Jackson
The Jackson Methodist church plans a new parsonage as part of a $40,000 building program. The parsonage should be ready by September, with Rev. and Mrs. Henry H. Jones and family currently living in the Buttrill cottage on West Avenue during construction.
