Georgia Cotton Crop Very Poor Amid Weevil Damage

Georgia faces a very poor cotton crop as rains hindered cultivation and grass grew. Extensive weevil infestations led many growers to switch to corn or other crops, with Georgia’s acreage dropping from last year. South Carolina fares slightly better, while North Georgia also declines due to rain and soil limits. The era’s weevil damage is severe, likely marking one of the worst two decades.
