Jackson High School Opens September 4
Jackson High School will open its fall term on September 4 with a capable faculty led by Superintendent W. P. Martin and Principal W. O. Perritt. Free education welcomes all children in Butts county. The program includes devotional exercises and addresses by Rev. I. H. Miller, J. H. Carmichael, and Mayor J Threatt Moore at 8 45 a m.

Indian Springs Holiness camp meeting praised as best yet
The 1916 Indian Springs Holiness camp meeting closed Sunday night to widespread praise. Attendance was exceptionally large with special trains from Atlanta and thousands from Butts county. Dr. Will Harney of Kentucky preached notable sermons assisted by Rev. John Paul. County Day on August 16 drew many locals, and next year plans include ventilators at the tabernacle to improve comfort.

Dr. H C Morrison president of Asbury College and Dr W H Huff of Sioux City are named leaders for the 1917 Indian Springs Holiness camp meeting. Trustees plan extensive improvements including terracing the Douglas tract, planting pecan trees, and constructing a reservoir to boost water supply. North Carolina prisoner proved the wrong man
A man arrested in Raleigh for the Will Con ley case proved to be the wrong suspect in the Will Horton murder. Sheriff Crawford traced him to Raleigh, confirmed his alibi, and he was released after being found not to be the wanted man. The man had worked around Raleigh since the year began, including on the day Horton was killed.
