Girl Slayer Says Mother Caused It in Missouri
Martin Rollins who shot and killed 15 year old Annie Austin at Caruthersville last Monday week then killed himself last Thursday in a barn near his former employer. A three day manhunt with bloodhounds and armed men followed through swamps as Rollins evaded capture. He later returned near Caruthersville, burned a sheriff's barn, and killed himself after telling the crowd he planned to die. He allegedly killed the girl for refusing to elope and sent shells to the mother with a note blaming her for the death. Wickliffe, Kentucky officials say he was a dangerous man wanted on prior charges.
