Methodist Ladies Bazaar at Ford Hardware Building

The Methodist ladies plan an annual bazaar next Thursday and Friday in the vacant Ford Hardware building on South High Street near the post office. Evening entertainment starts at 7:30 with admission one shilling. A little folks contest is Thursday afternoon and a souvenir silver spoon will be awarded for the best song or recitation. Admission vary by session.

The Methodist church was well filled last Sunday night to listen to Mrs Carrie Lee Carter Stokes. She spoke about an hour and her remarks were full of thought and timely suggestions as she reviewed the progress of the W C T U over the last fifty years and the good results achieved.

Rural Mail Carriers Organize in Cape Girardeau County

The Rural Letter Carriers of Cape Girardeau County met November 28 1907 in Jackson Missouri and organized with 16 of 19 carriers present plus 2 substitutes. Officers include F N Medley president J H Fredericks vice president J W Brooks secretary treasurer and an executive committee. The meeting adjourned to reconvene May 10 1908 with plans to join the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, one of about 37 728 carriers nationwide.

Wedding of Anita Helmkampf and Robert Wilson

The Presbyterian church hosted a Wednesday evening ceremony for Miss Anita Helmkampf and Mr. Robert Kent Wilson. Rev. C. P. Browning officiated as guests from city and country attended a reception at the bride’s mother's home. The couple received many handsome presents, and the paper offers hearty congratulations.

Pocahontas Hog Killing Time Returns to Town

The town enjoys a hog killing week with residents and visitors alike helping in butchering. J L Morton of Jackson and C A Morton share Thanksgiving, J A Vogel from Cape helps with hogs, and social events include a dance at Appleton. Hy C Kienninger’s smokehouse intrusion is noted, a large hog drive leaves town, and Oak Ridge plays host to a drama.
