A. G. Hircniss asks friends and customers to settle notes and accounts promptly to pay notes in the hands of bankers, as they will not wait. He cannot carry anyone over and signs respectfully.
Public notice open to all bidders to build a bridge across the Towaliga river near Samuel J. Foster residence in Butts County. Auction at courthouse door on November 17 at 10 a.m. with cash on completion. Right to reject any or all bids reserved. Specifications available in office. Dated October 22, 1894.
W R Weaver goes to the familiar stand with pistol in hand while Dr Ellis remains at the same location. The scene suggests a tense confrontation at the usual meeting place.
The property offers two houses on rich, well watered land with pastures and outbuildings. One four room dwelling and another three room house sit on fertile soil producing a bale per acre yearly. Land is suitable for sugar cane and lies well. A rare chance to buy a desirable home before withdrawal.
Dr Mays reports 16 bales of cotton from a single horse farm averaging over 500 pounds each. Rows are three and a half feet wide with one plant per place and two feet between plants. He uses careful hoeing and plowing, opens planting with a McCord distributor, applies about 200 pounds of guano, then plants. He estimates the cost to grow cotton in Georgia at 7 to 8 cents per pound, noting no food or wear shortage but a money shortage.
