Uncle Jack Bennett, a prominent 80 plus year old resident of Butts County, died Saturday night at his home in Buttrill district. He was a member of St. John's Lodge F and A M and his funeral at Old Bethel church included Masonic rites.
An advertisement claims Botanic Blood Balm cures rheumatism after other remedies fail. It touts thousands of testimonials, offers a book priced at one dollar, and includes a journalist testimonial from W G Wipsy about a permanent recovery. Dr J W Harper and local citizens support the Cosmopolitan University as it announces its largest freshman class on October 8 with over 10 000 students on the rolls. President Eliphalet Potter brings twenty five years of college leadership as Irvington staff is organized and faculty assigned. Rev I G Walker to serve Covington Locust Grove and Conyers Baptist churches while remaining in Covington. The piece notes enthusiasm for the university and ongoing community involvement.
